Road trip to Colorado & beyond

We had so much fun that we didn’t have a chance to take many pictures of our epic journey to Colorado and back. The trip started out sort of bumpy with a flat tire on our second day just outside Missoula Montana. Ashton passed the time waiting for the tire to be changed by crawling through the bike rack outside the Missoula mall. We finally made it to Bozeman on Sunday evening four hours later than anticipated. Ashton was happy to find a great big dirt pile in the back of Craig and Meg’s house as well as lots of dangerous plumber’s tools and fresh raspberries to pick.

We ventured on through Yellowstone stopping off at Old Faithful with the rest of the masses. Our timing was perfect and David was in awe both of this natural wonder… and the fascinating variety of people in attendance. We finally arrived in Estes Park for the family reunion after two more travel days. Ashton had a new found strength at the high altitude and picked up several large boulders and summited some small rock formations. The highlight of the activities was Ashton’s first pony ride. He mounted, without fear, the pony named Strawberry and rode proud atop this gentle steed. He was a real trooper the entire time and had only a few minor meltdowns which usually ended in deep sleep.
