Ashton and Heidi made the pilgrimage back to Wisconsin at the beginning of July leaving David home to tend to the cat, dog and to paint the bathroom. Ashton had a great time first visiting the Bedwells in Waukesha and Brookfield. He helped water Grandma Mina’s flowers and had fun going to the playground with Grandpa Ray. He even got some time with his cousins and Uncle Michael and Aunt Linda. Cousin Margaret let him hold her bunny Oreo and Uncle Michael taught Ashton how to balance a spoon on his nose. We were told David was the instigator of this prank at their wedding rehearsal dinner.
After visiting the Bedwells, we headed north to visit Gran Barbara and Opa Mark at the “cottage”. Aunt Liz was gracious enough to drive us and spent a few days relaxing on the lake. Ashton caught his first fish and loved swimming in the warm water. He even took a paddle boat and a pontoon ride which Opa let him steer.
We also had a special visit from Cousin Claire and her family and Great Uncle Bill and Aunt Andrea. Granny Anny (aunt Andrea) brought along some squirting animals and Claire and Ashton caught on quickly after being squirted a few times. They also loved chasing after one another and had several embraces which we think Claire learned to enjoy.
